Weekend Babble & Side Table DIY

Afternoon peeps! Hope all of you had an happening weekend...I did... kind of. I went out with my uncle for dinner and partying. I had a great time even though I was kind of sick..I prob had bitchface the whole time even though I felt busting a move on the dance floor inside.

I love this poster! Its the story of my life! Any hoo, that's the extent of the exciting part of my weekend. I had some DIYs I planned to do but I kind of watch everything on demand instead...sometimes it beez like that! I'll get to my projects eventually... I hope.
I did some online dream shopping which to me is the best. Although I didn't actually buy it, mentally I did and I rocked it fabulously with all eyes on me at party/club/event. Women lusting over my outfit while the men were lusting after me! I dream big!
The best part about dream shopping I DIDN'T spend any money! The worst part about is that I'm a compulsive shopper so eventually I'll probably get it.

Whoop Whoop! I already have the lipstick so I don't have to get that. I do have one DIY I forgot to post. It was the creative genius of my auntie. She did this in like 2min...I walked outside to get my shoes and I came back it was already set up

It's a side table! From a frame, vase, and candles. I thought she was a genius because all weekend those items were in the way. Ok in the pic it looks likes like candles on top of a frame on top of a vase but in person it was the bomb.com!
Well that's it for today

Lamp Revamp

I recently revamped an old lamp. I really wanted to try to make a coffee filter lamp shade so, I did! I bought the drum shade from Home goods and began working. It really wasn't that hard, just get 2 or 3 filters, fold them either in halves or fours and glue. This project was time consuming but it wasn't too bad. I took me two days, 200 filters  and Ailene's tacky glue. I also painted the base of the lamp blue and sponged on some gold paint. Wah lah! I got a lamp with a new attitude!

Bookcase Revamp

Attempting to get organized I needed a space for my shoes. I have so much stuff that not all my shoes fit in my closet. I would love to have a closet like this

with my shoes looking like this

but since I'm not living that large I had to improvise. I went to Goodwill looking for bookcases. They had tall and small bookcases, I opted for a smaller white one. The smaller one would take up less space in my room and be easier for me to transport given that I am 5'2" and hates carrying anything taller than me. I got it home, cleaned, and painted it. I gave it black spots on the outside with a red backboard on the inside.

Although it only holds 10 pairs of shoes, it gave me some much need space in my closet!

I know I am super late but I just discovered Olioboard. It's a an online mood board creater and I love it!  It's like my own personal Design Star White Room Challenge. These are some of the boards I created.

Leopard print rhinestone rattle

My best friend recently gave me the honor of being the godmother of her daughter and of course me being me I had to come up with a fabulous gift. Whenever any of my sorority sisters become pregnant I tell them if they have of a girl I'm going to get them something made of rhinestones. They all had boys, ugh! My bff had the first girl so whatever I came up with had to be super banging. Lightbulb! I gave her what I think every little girl should have, a leopard print rhinestone rattle!

To my surprise this doesn't exist so I had to create it. I thought I could buy a rattle and cover it with rhinestones, I was WRONG! I didn't know rattles came in every shape but the shape I was looking for. Now I had to put my creativity to the test and build the rattle myself. After standing in Hobby Lobby for hours it hit me.

I used a chrismas ornament, wooden dowel & ball to build it. I filled the inside with metallic gold beads so it can shake. Painted the outside to create a pattern for the rhinestones.

BAM!  A leopard print rhinestone rattle! Since my goddaughter can never play with rattle, I added the rattle to a basket full of baby goodies. This rattle was really for made for my enjoyment!

Zebra Print Dresser

My dresser is the project I am the proudest of because it was my first. After I finished it I felt like a true badass!!!
I needed a dresser and refused to pay for one so, I didn't! I was sooo lucky that my aunt wanted to get rid of the old dresser she had and gave it to me for free.

This is the before. We ditched the mirror and she nailed a framed metal plate to fill the space of a missing dresser. My auntie is a creative genius! First I primed and then spray painted it. The top part I used a stencil which was a complete pain! I recommend free-handing it because the paint would bleed through the stencil or not align correctly leaving me to do a lot of touch ups. Stenciling was also very time consuming. A few curse words later, I finally finished stenciling the top of the dresser. For the rest of the dresser I free-handed the zebra stripes which was the best idea I had all day! I spray painted the hardware metalic gold, added a small magnetic earring stud on the metal plate and Wah lah! I have a zebra printed dresser!
